Pulse Pro FAQ

Pulse Pro FAQ

Q: What Are the Advantages of the Pulse Pro?
The main benefits of the Pulse Pro are the following:
- Matter Compatible:
The Pulse Pro uses a standard Matter protocol to improve communication between the shades and other smart home systems. See “What is a Matter Device?” below for more details.
- Simplified Setup:
The Pulse Pro uses Bluetooth assisted setup with 5 easy steps.
- Enhanced Performance & Reliability:
The Pulse Pro has a reliable range of 3000 sq ft and has been extensively tested by a 3rd party testing company.
- Simultaneous Group Control:
When controlling shades as a group the pulse pro will control the shades simultaneously rather than cascading (shades will all move together rather than one another). Please note that this functionality is intended for Room Control rather than activating scenes.
Q: What is a Matter Device?
Matter Creates a simplified connected experience between the Automate Pulse Pro and other smart home products. Developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance, and backed by leading tech companies, Matter offers interoperability between supported products while ensuring reliable and secure connections.

Matter is built with high-security protocols, prioritizing local processing and encryption to reduce privacy concerns – so you can enjoy a smarter home without compromising your data.

Matter is a growing technology, so as it continues to evolve new features will become available.
Q: What Platforms Will Connect with my Pulse Pro Matter Hub?
Some platforms that will have increased compatibility with the Pulse Pro includes:

-Alexa
-Homekit
-Google Home
-SmartThings
-AMX by Harman
-Clare
-Control 4
-Crestron/Crestron Home
-Elan
-HomeSeer
-RTI
-Savant
-URC
-Briliant
-IFTTT

The hub will also provide a more seamless connection to Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, and more.

Q: Can I Link My Pulse Pro to My Smart Home Voice Control the Old Way?
Yes, you can. However, the Matter pairing method is what will be supported in future versions of the app.

Q: Why Does Home Data Permission Have a Red X?
If there is still a red “X” next to this requirement, ensure the Apple HomeKit application (often labeled Home) is installed, has been opened, and has had its permissions enabled. This will allow the setup to continue.
Q: Why Do I Only Get the “New Hub Detected” Popup the First Time I’m Adding a Hub?
This ensures the Automate app isn't continually seeking out other hubs and giving irrelevant popups. Simply manually select the option to Add Another Hub to continue with additional hub pairings.
Q: Why Does My Shade Jog Multiple Times When Pairing?
After pressing “NEXT” on the pairing instructions page the shade goes through two separate setup processes, one set of jogs is initiating the individual control feature, and the second set of jogs is initiating the group control feature. Allow the app to finish loading and you should get a Pairing Success message.
Q: What If I Get A “Pairing Failed” Message After the Jogs Instead of "Pairing Success"?
Move your hub closer to the shade in question, even if that involves unplugging the hub and plugging it in closer. After a successful pairing you may move the hub back to its original placement.
Q: How Does My Hub Communicate with My Shades?
Our line of motorized shades communicates with our RF protocol known as ARC. This is essentially a two-way language shared between the remotes and the motors, but it’s also how the hub communicates with the shades. You might think of the hub as an intermediate communicator, or a translator between your internet and the shades.
Q: What is STD/Simple Control?
If you see the phrase “Simple Control” on your shades within the app, it means that the shade is responsive though some details, such as battery percentage and shade position reporting may be limited.

(STD) Standard Control means you have full connection with the shade and will see shade position and battery level.
Q: What Can Cause Interference Between My Shades and Hub?
There is always the possibility that some shades may have a poor signal or have difficulty pairing. Though this issue should be rare a few elements that could cause interference, preventing ideal signal, could be:
- Proximity:
the pulse pro will be adequate for approximately 3,000 square foot spaces, but outside that range, the shade may not receive a strong enough signal due to attenuation (gradual decrease in signal strength over a distance)
 -Multiple Levels:
Homes with many floors may also impact the range of the hub due to increased construction materials in between the hub and the shades.
- Construction Materials:
Some dense construction materials may decrease the distance a shade can be from the hub to maintain a good signal. Construction materials such as concrete, cinderblocks, metal doors/walls, and several walls between the hub and the shade.
- Interfering Devices:
If the home has many other Radio Frequency devices or excessive RF repeaters installed this could also cause interference and confuse signals between the hub and the shades.
Q: What Types of Networks Can My Hub Use?
The Pulse Pro requires a 2.4G network to communicate like many other smart home systems. The Pulse Pro can single out the 2.4G network from a mesh network.
Q: Why Do We Use 2.4Ghz Networks?
While 2.4GHZ has a lower bandwidth, it has many useful properties that make it ideal for smart home devices including wider coverage and better penetration, ensuring your hub can stay connected regardless of where it’s located in your home. keeping our hubs on a 2.4 network allows them to stay connected while not interfering or being crowded out by your higher bandwidth devices in your home (cellphones, tablets, desktop computers, smart TVs, etc.) It also ensures increased compatibility with older Wi-Fi routers homeowners may be using, eliminating the need to upgrade internet services just to use your automated shades.
Q: What If My Pulse Pro Isn't Connecting to My Network?
Ensure your internet router is up to date. We've confirmed that AT&T routers will update the firmware by unplugging the router for approximately 60 seconds and plugging it back in. For other routers, consider contacting your network provider to ensure the firmware is up to date.
Q: How Can I Tell If My Pulse Pro is Up to Date?
During the install process, the final step is loading your hub will blink violet 5 times per second. This shows that a firmware update is taking place. You can also check your firmware version in your hub settings or contact our Support Team.
